well perhaps not, maybe one day it could become useful to us humans. Once we have finally stuffed the earth full of discarded packaging perhaps we should invent a rocket (or maybe use bransons) to fire up through the atmosphere (packed with rubbish). then we have 2 options - let it float through space for eternity or direct it back towards earth so it can burn up in the atmosphere.
yes financially it'll be expensive, but in terms of protecting the earth/soil and everything on it will it turn out to be socially expensive?
